SEND Hub

Our Hub - The Holy Family

At Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School, we have a hub for children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder. We opened our Hub in September 2024, initially with two children. This is a local authority provision which provides an enhanced resource base for up to eight children. Spaces in our hub are allocated by the Local Authority SEN Panel, according to the guidance set out in our SEND Hub Admissions Guidance.

Our autism hub is called The Holy Family. The children who attend are from Year Two to Year Six.  Our children work on bespoke, individualised educational programmes which are guided by their Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) as well as the National Curriculum. The children integrate with the pupils in the mainstream school as much as possible. For some of the children, this might mean spending the majority of their school day in the Hub, whereas others will join the mainstream children for some, or most, of their day.

Sacred Heart’s Hub is also a Centre of Expertise in Autism. This means that the Hub staff support other schools in Peterborough to develop good autism practice. This might be through advice, modelling, training or providing or demonstrating resources. For more information about our Hub and centre of expertise, please make an appointment at the school office to meet with a member of staff.

Centre of Expertise

As a Centre of Expertise in autism, we offer advice, support and resources to other Peterborough schools and wider professionals.

We invite schools and families to contact Mrs Dalton, Hub Manager, to arrange a visit. This is a chance for schools to see different ways of teaching children with ASD, the resources we use in the Hub, and the adaptations made to the learning environment. It is also an opportunity to talk over any difficulties faced, so that we can problem-solve together.
